Puli south movie in hindi how to#
Your encouragement and constant feedback on how to improve our offering have only made our resolve and commitment to these ideals stronger. Overall, the film is only for children and lovers of the fantasy genre who are willing to overlook the flaws.īusiness Standard has always strived hard to provide up-to-date information and commentary on developments that are of interest to you and have wider political and economic implications for the country and the world. Every frame is picture perfect with brilliant atmospheric visuals, elaborate sets, beautiful costumes, well perceived computer generated images and equally well executed video effects. On the technical front, the film is artistically conceived. The songs are quite lengthy, but the dances are well choreographed. Magadheera states "Veerta ka doosra naam hai sehanshakti", but unfortunately there is no evidence to support this. The dialogues are loud and dramatic, at times incongruous with the action happening on screen. Equally noteworthy are Magadheera's father, the village head or mukhiya and the wizard. It is the supporting cast, especially the miniatures, Alpha, Beta and Kamashi who help Magadheera in his endeavour, who are sincere and endearing. Sudeep as Jaltarang is decent and has a fair screen presence, but with limited screen time. Sridevi, who makes her appearance after the interval, is a huge letdown, both in her performance and demeanour. Hansika's facial expressions are a bit gawky on camera. As eye candies, they are neither glamorous nor appealing. Shruti Hassan as Pavanamalli and Hansika Motwani as Rajkumari, Yaman Rani's daughter, have half-baked roles. Vijay as Magadheera, lacks the charisma of a superhero. The performances by the top-line cast, with, the-out-of-sync dubbing, is unintentionally amusing and jarring to the eye. These meetings, along with a talking monster tortoise, a talking bird, a helpful frog and a one-eyed monster, take the fantasy to its nadir. It has elements drawn from every possible fable that include Magadheera being abandoned as a baby, raised by foster parents, falling in love with a girl who is kidnapped and imprisoned by Yaman Rani's men in the attic of a castle tower.įurthermore, Magadheera's journey to the forbidden land includes meeting a tribe of miniatures, just like the Lilliputians in "Gulliver's Travels", as well as meeting a wizard who helps him a with magical potion. What makes this film unpalatable is the fact that it is a badly patched up tale. It is the story of a braveheart, Magadheera (Vijay) who rescues his lady love Pavanamalli (Shruti Hassan), daughter of his village head and his people from the clutches of a wicked queen, Yaman Rani (Sridevi) and her commander Jaltarang (Sudeep). The film is a convoluted tale that lacks originality.
The title "Puli", which means tiger in Tamil, used as a subtle metaphor, is almost lost to the Hindi speaking viewer. The Hindi version itself had raked in over Rs 125 crore at the domestic BO.Like "Baahubali", this period fantasy film "Puli" is spectacularly mounted but unfortunately does not match the former in stature. It's possibly the only South Indian film to nett over Rs 200 crore in India itself. Overall, the film went on to win a lot of hearts and crossed the Rd 600 crore mark worldwide.
So much that Baahubali entered the Rs 100 crore bracket in merely two days post its release. The film which was lauded for its great screenplay and breathtaking moments went on to become a huge hit at the BO in the first two days itself. The fantasy film, which was appreciated for its creatively shot trailer was also expected to score big at the BO, given that the treatment was expected to be the same.ĭid it happen? Did Puli beat Baahubali? Or is Baahubali still the reigning champion at the BO? Here's the lowdown.īaahubali opened to a whopping Rs 50 crore all over the world, which is by far the highest for any Indian film ever. On the other hand, it was Vijay and Sridevi's Puli which hit screens last week. Not just that, a strong plot helped up the film's momentum at the box office as it went on to shatter all possible box office records post its much hyped release. With spectacular VFX, SS Rajamouli's magnum opus turned out to be a visual treat for the audiences. Baahubali had released around three months back and went on to create history at the box office.
